Mariana Mazzucato, author of the book “Mission Economy” and founding director of the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, defines missions as “Concrete, time-bound targets within societal / environmental and economic challenges that act as frames and stimuli for innovation.”
This workshop looks at one approach to increase the effectiveness of such stimuli, by adopting place-based ecosystem thinking to mission design and implementation.
Participants will
- Be introduced to the concept of missions, including an overview of the most up to date research and publications about the topic
- Learn about place-based innovation ecosystems
- Engage in a practical workshop of ecosystem mapping using the framework developed
